Meyer lemons are one of the most cold t...Hi Claire. Meyer lemons are one of the most cold tolerant citrus here, but the Pomello maybe more cold hardy from what I'm observing. And they're planted out in the orchard which can get as cold as -2'C. Interestingly, an Imperial Mandarin has also survived well. I'm told that the Lisbon lemon is cold hardy, but that hasn't proven to be the case here at all, so I gave up on that variety. I recently picked up five new varieties of citrus to trial and want to get them in the ground, but Sunday looks set to hit 38'C, so might wait for that until autumn. Your protected porch is a great idea for cold sensitive plants, and that practice stretches all the way back to the Roman days, maybe further back. Cheers.
